The latter move was the signature move of the Swords of Justice in Generation V. The reason is because of war between two human factions, which resulted in a forest fire in the Moor of Icirrus. Ensnared by the smoke, they could not escape and their demise seemed certain, until three figures appeared.
Despite their efforts, the forest eventually burned to the ground. The trio adopted Keldeo into their group and taught it the knowledge and moves necessary in order to survive. Over time, Keldeo began to surpass its teachers before leaving the forest, though it is unknown why it left.
The trio proceeded to fight back the armies, overwhelming them with their combined might. After capturing Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion, the player can also encounter Keldeo. After interacting with a pair of footprints near a pot on an island in Ballimere Lake and making a curry with Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizon in the party, Keldeo will appear on the island.
The Sword of Justice. Keldeo is then found by Ash and his friends , who help it to end the battle with Kyurem. His travels take him to Mistralton Cave , where he meets Shoko , a young girl who's friend, Trish , had gone into the cave to capture the Swords of Justice herself. When they hear a cry of pain, Black and Shoko enter the cave to find that Trish had been defeated and captured by Terrakion and Virizion.
Black manages to get Trish out of Terrakion and Virizion's grasp with the help of Bo. Cobalion's appearance startles Trish into dropping her torches, causing a fire to start inside of the cave. Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion then disappear into the distance, much to Black's disappointment since he never captured them. All of the moves that Keldeo learns by leveling up also have higher base powers than that of any other Swords of Justice members.
In addition to the power and stat differences, Keldeo is the only one in the group that is not listed near the others in the National Pokedex. Introduced in Generation V, Virizion is the most femininely designed Pokemon of the four. Aramis is the best at swordplay but is also incredibly beautiful and vain. With a base stat of , just like the rest of the group, Virizion does not seem to outwardly stand out.

It is the only one with this dual-type classification. It also has a base stat of , which matches the base stats of the rest of the group. The eldest of the group, Cobalion is based on the character Athos from the Three Musketeers.
Its striped underside is also beige. It has a short, stubby tail. On the sides of its head are long horns that end in dull, curled points. It has a pointed snout with a black blaze running from its nose to the back of its head.
Its face, hind legs, and underside are white. There is a pinked-tipped leaf on each side of its neck, and leafy tufts on its shoulders. On its back, there are pointed tufts of fur forming a medium-long tail. Its lower legs resemble knee-high boots with pink highlights at the knees, and it has black hooves. The Three Musketeers. Like Athos, Cobalion is the oldest and the de facto leader of the group. Like the others of its trio, its appearance is based on ungulates.
It bears close resemblance to a markhor a type of goat and species of antelope such as the greater kudu or eland. According to the legends, Keldeo was orphaned by a fire during the war and was raised by Terrakion, Virizion and Cobalion.
